Dr. Jessica Reum, Veterinarian
Dr. Reum grew up on the shores of Lake Michigan, on a small hobby farm where her horses were kept. Her interest in veterinary medicine was sparked at a young age when the local veterinarian helped to treat her colicing horse. From that time on, she spent much of her free time volunteering with that same local vet, her sights already set on veterinary school.
Dr. Reum attended Michigan State University for her undergraduate studies. She majored in zoological sciences and was chosen to be a member of a genetic research team early in her studies. Dr. Reum spent her collegiate summers on Michigan State’s campus to continue her research and summer classes, so that by the time she was through her second year she had completed all of the classes required to apply to veterinary school. She was accepted to Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in the fall of 2007, prior to finishing her bachelor’s degree in zoology.
Due to her scholastic achievements, Dr. Reum was awarded a Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Sciences in the winter of 2008 prior to graduating from MSU College of Veterinary Medicine with honors in 2011. Dr. Reum was chosen from a highly competitive field of veterinary applicants to complete an internship with Blue Pearl Veterinary Partners in Tampa, Florida following graduation. She spent the internship year managing complicated cases side by side with veterinary specialists in the fields of internal medicine, surgery, critical care, cardiology, neurology, ophthalmology and dermatology. She also gained extensive experience with veterinary emergency medicine and surgery during her internship year.
Following her internship year, Dr. Reum’s appreciation for client relationships pulled her back into private practice with us here at Boca Veterinary Clinic. In her free time, she enjoys horseback riding, cooking and spending mornings with her dog Harper at the dog park.
